New Music Director for the Oslo Philharmonic Orchestra
Jukka-Pekka Saraste appointed new Music Director of the Oslo Phil.
Following André Previn is Finnish conductor Jukka-Pekka Saraste, starting his five year contract the season 2006-07. He will work with the orchestra for 10 weeks a year. A unanimous orchestra are extremely pleased to announce this appointment, and on the press conference Mr. Saraste stated that he had placed the OPO highly ever since he conducted them for the first time early in the 80s. He continued saying that he and the orchestra share the same artistic visions and views, and that he was looking forward to be a part of the continous development of the orchestra.
